Middle School Dean of Students
Cambridge Lower Secondary English Teacher

​Main Responsibilities

I lead the development of student culture, leadership, and behavior in our Middle School.

I facilitate various leadership opportunities in grades 5-8, including Student Council. I also coordinate and support logistics for leadership and learning opportunities for students from groups outside of school.

I lead and support our Homeroom Advisory program and teachers with regard to nuts and bolts operations and classroom management. I
liaise between students, teachers, and leadership with regard to student comportment, responding to emergent issues and finding learning opportunities for students to set and increase the expectations of student behavior.

I coordinate our biweekly student assemblies as well as our school's first annual, school-wide event, TASIS Speaks, a public speaking competition among students in all divisions signifying and celebrating the importance of oracy in education.

I also teach Cambridge Lower Secondary English in Grade 8 (Stage 9).

Middle School EAL Teacher & Grade 7 Teacher Lead

​Main Responsibilities

I co-deliver ongoing PD to staff to help them support our multilingual learners in an inclusion setting. I co-teach in middle school English and social studies, and I provide support in a variety of other classes. As the Teacher Lead for Grade 7, my goal is to facilitate a team mentality among teachers and students, building community through clear communication, common language, and consistent expectations. I've also been lucky enough to be selected to pilot AISG's new "Pathfinder" next generation, flexible learning spaces (more on Twitter).

Secondary Humanities Teacher Lead & High School English

Main Responsibilities
​My main goal as Teacher Lead was to lead curricular change in social studies and English, grades 6-12, from research to implementation. I co-wrote the high school English curriculum and served as a coach for the newly pieces of educational technology implemented school-wide in secondary.  I also implemented all aspects of the WIDA Model Online language assessment, training staff to deliver the assessment and leading them through PD to use the data it produced. We were the first in the country to use the online testing system. All throughout this time, I taught sections of high school English and film studies for grades 8-12.

Committees and Panels
I represented my school at the regular Qatar Foundation district-level English curriculum meetings. During this time, our group was tasked with reviewing various sets of standards and recommending one for use throughout all of Qatar Foundation.

Portage Area High School in Portage, WI, USA

High School English & ESL

Main Responsibilities
I taught high school English, co-taught with a member of the special education department, and I coordinated all aspects of providing language support and testing for our multilingual population in high school.

As a member of the Pupil Services Planning Committee, I contributed to the development of the vision statement and formation of a new pupil services team for the district.

Roseville Area Middle School in Roseville, MI, USA

Middle School English & ESL

Main Responsibilities
I taught language arts as part of a sheltered content team dedicated to serving our multilingual learners in grades 7 and 8. I coordinated regularly with English and social studies teachers, and I served as the Technical Director for our theater program.

Committees and Panels
As a member on the Systems Outcomes / Accountability Review Board, I teamed with district English staff and recommended changes for the secondary English program.
